In November 2011, we interviewed Professor Sidney Winter as part of the Knowledge and Innovation interest group at the Strategic Management Society (SMS) annual conference in Miami. Our goal was to provide a foundational overview of organizational knowledge issues in management to people who may be unfamiliar with the subject. Starting from the basic characteristics of organizational knowledge and their relationship with firm characteristics and the success of change initiatives, we then discuss managerial implications and pitfalls stemming from organizational knowledge.
